In the middle of this year, another Marvel character will have his chance to shine in theaters, thanks to Morbius, the Vampire Vampire solo film that has already given Spider-Man a lot of work in the comics. Recently, the film had its first trailer released and is already attracting the attention of fans.
Recently, Jared Leto – who will play the protagonist of the feature – gave an interview to IGN, where he talked a little about the character’s internal conflicts. According to him, Michael Morbius is a complex character who, despite being the right person, has a dark side:
“Morbius is a very complex character. I was very attracted to that. He’s a guy who has a lot of conflict in his life. He’s a guy who was born with a horrible disease and is a really talented person. When he was young, he was curious about science and medicine, and devoted his life to finding a cure for the disease that affects him and affects others like him. But, on the way, he ends up freaking out.”
According to Leto, the character will be very different from what we are used to in superhero movies. According to the actor, the film does not have a clear line between good and evil, and this makes the character more identifiable with the audience – one of the reasons he decided to participate in the film:
“Within Morbius, there is a person who has a deadly code. There is a good person. In the end, it is a common struggle between good and evil. And we will see, I think, what ends up winning in the end. That’s what I really like about this movie. We are not walking on a clear road. There is no visible line between what is right and what is wrong. There is a gray area here. And Morbius is an imperfect person. He’s not your grandfather’s superhero. He is a deeply complex and imperfect character. And I love the aspect of someone who is like us all, with a lot of challenges and problems.”
The final result will only be discovered in July when the feature hits theaters. The film is part of the “Sony Universe, “alongside the Venom franchise. However, according to the first trailer, the film may end up being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
